This earthy coloured Mala, is made from Indian Agate.
It is known for its beautiful array of warm tones…ranging from deep terracotta, to an almost black-green (and everything in between)
There are lilac Lepidolite stones interspersed within the Mala as well.
It is finished with a vintage silver Moroccan Berber bead, and a rich teal, recycled sari-silk tassel.
There is a lovely rustic feel to this piece, as the sari-silk is hand dyed and there is plenty of variation in its colour, as well as being ‘unfinished’ so has frayed edges. 
It’s also very tactile to play with…so perfect for holding when using during meditations.
Traditionally Mala’s are made with 108 beads with a larger stone (the Guru or Meru stone) that the 108 turn around like planets around the Sun.
The number 108 has long been held as a sacred number in Hinduism.
It connects the Earth , the moon, and the Sun.
The average distance between the Sun & the moon to the earth is 108 times their respective diameters.
The circumference of the Sun is said to be 108 times the circumference of the Earth.
 
In Vedic culture 108 is viewed as a number of the wholeness of existence. In yogic traditions, there are 108 sacred sites throughout India, and 108 sacred places of the body.
 
Place the Mala between your middle & ring finger. Starting at the Guru/Meru stone, use your thumb to count each smaller stone as you recite your mantra.

Indian agate, is sometimes referred to as the stone of eternity, it eases the thought of getting older by enhancing our state of gratitude for everything we have experienced to get us where we are.
A strong healing stone, Indian Agate gives physical strength and emotional security.
It is also said to be a good protection stone.
It is perhaps best known for its ability to balance yin/yang energies instilling a sense of calm on the wearer.
